Tembici

Redesigning the biggest bike-share app in Latin America

UX & Design
Mobility

Headquartered in Brazil and operating in four countries, Tembici is the largest bike-share company in Latin America, with over 21,000 bicycles. A technology leader in micro-mobility, Tembici creates solutions to inspire a revolution in urban space. Their biggest partner is Itaú, one of the world’s largest banks, which began a revolution in urban spaces in major cities like Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in 2011 and has had its bike-share service operated by Tembici since 2017.

In this context, Tembici approached us with three main challenges:

01. Optimize the number of interactions required in the app to start a trip.

02. Provide clearer information in a contextual manner.

03. Improve plan communication to make it easier for the end user to understand how the subscription works.

We interviewed users and benchmarked best-in-class experiences both in mobility as in analogous markets, seeking inspiration on how to streamlining the user-journeys and making the communication as simples and straightforward as possible.

The illustrations took place as a powerful informational element rather than just an aesthetic one; they helped to translate core-steps of the bike renting and withdraw process in a much faster and clearer way, which not only helped to elevate the brand as it also allowed us to work with a more concise writing that helped to declutter the interfaces, making the whole experience faster and more enjoyable.
